To mark ME Awareness week, our new osteopath Neil is offering 50% off, just £25 instead of £50, for initial consultations 12th-17th May. Read what he has to say about ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) and the use of the Perrin Technique as a method of diagnosing and treating the disorder:
Things have come a long way since ME was labelled ‘Yuppie Flu’ and dismissed as being ‘…all in the mind’. Although ME is a recognised disorder in its own right, there is still divided opinion as to what the causes are and how it should be defined. Is it a neurological disorder, or psychological? Is it due to a poor immune system, adrenal overload or poor nutrition?
The current method of diagnosis – one of exclusion, or ‘test everything and if nothing sticks, it’s ME’ – suggests that we are still a long way from understanding the condition, and even further from a consensus on how to treat it.
The Perrin Technique offers a method of diagnosing and treating ME, and provides a theoretical framework as to why it occurs which points to the cause being primarily with the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and its complex feedback mechanisms.
The SNS plays a crucial role in times of stress, and helps maintain the balance of the body’s internal environment, dysfunction causing a myriad of symptoms which can affect many parts of the body.
The Perrin Technique uses gentle methods to promote normalising this sympathetic activity: osteopathic techniques to correct musculoskeletal issues; cranial osteopathy; self-treatment exercises and management advice. This provides a whole body approach to treatment and with this technique, symptoms should gradually improve for most clients and some eventually become symptom free.

Hi
I’m trying to find a practitioner that is currently offering the Perrin technique. I have tried the number on this website several times I have not been able to leave details or speak to anyone.
I look forward to hearing back from you
