Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that utilises the power of suggestion or exploration to bring about subconscious change to thoughts, feelings, behaviour and physical symptoms.

Hypnotherapy is only one ‘tool’ that an experienced therapist can use and there are several ways in which it may be incorporated into the therapy. Everyone drifts in and out of a ‘trance’ state every day. A skilled hypnotherapist will help clients to deepen and utilise this state to encourage change.

Clients enter a very relaxed, yet heightened state of awareness. The client will still be very aware of their surroundings and be completely in control (and able to open their eyes whenever they want to). Once the client has reached the required level of awareness and is comfortable, then the therapist can make appropriate suggestions for positive change.

If the client feels they would like to explore their difficulties in more detail, then other hypnosis techniques will be involved.

What can Hypnotherapy be used for?

Hypnotherapy can be used to help people to:

  • smoking & Weight Control

What are the benefits of Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is one of the safest, fastest and most effective forms of treatment for many psychological and emotional problems. Hypnosis activates a deep relaxation response in the body which decreases blood pressure, slows the heart rate, and accelerates healing.

Hypnotherapy helps the client to feel in control of their own future and effective in overcoming their difficulties.

It enables accelerate the healing process in many physiological problems. Doctors are becoming increasingly supportive of hypnotherapy as an aid to better health. It is a non-invasive therapy, complementary to conventional medicine.

Who is Hypnotherapy suitable for?

Almost anyone will benefit from hypnotherapy! The exceptions would be those that are determined not to change or do not really want to change.  Those that have psychotic symptoms and those with suicidal behaviour should seek help from their doctor. Some drugs can have an impact on the level of awareness and therefore a doctor’s letter would be required in this respect.
