What is Sophrology?
Sophrology is a somatic therapeutic approach which is relatively new in the UK, but well-established in mainland Europe. It was created in the 1960’s by Professor Alfonso Caycedo, a neuropsychiatrist, who was seeking a non-medicinal ways to treat soldiers suffering from PTSD. It integrates Western practices like progressive muscle relaxation and hypnosis with Eastern wisdom such as Yoga and Buddhist meditation. Sophrology sessions consist of gentle body movement, breathing techniques and positive tailored visualisations which will help you cultivate confidence, calm, focus, positivity, and energy.
